Rescue Training

Canmore Cave Tours is opening up an opportunity for a rescue practice day at Rat's Nest Cave on Sunday June 7.

This is part of the annual cave guide training, during which a day of their training is focused on Rescue. ABCCRS will help facilitate and participate in the event.

The event will start at the Rat's Nest Cave Parking lot at 0900. The morning will be spent on training and review, and the afternoon will be focused on one or more in-cave rescue scenarios involving a stretcher evacuation.

The event will end at 1700 (or later) depending on how long the in cave scenarios take.

Prerequisites:
All members must wear regular caving PPE including a helmet, lights, and gloves, and have a harness with cowstails to independently navigate the fixed lines in the cave. A full personal SRT kit is encouraged.

 

All ASS participants must be experienced cavers; having been involved in at least one or more caving experiences such as Rat's Nest Cave, Canyon Creek Ice Cave, etc.  You must be able to use cowstails to clip into fixed traverse lines and move independently in the cave, as no guiding or instruction on this aspect will be provided.
